I am starting to gut the Rusty Armadillo, and have a few parts I'm curious about. Can you guys help me ID these or trash them?

A: Shifter ****

B: F-O-R-D Hood Emblem

C: Seat Brackets and Frame

D: Header. I have a Flathead V8, Are there only 3 exhaust ports per side?!?!

E: *****, Buttons, Switches on Dash

A: Shifter ****--This is not a stock shift ****

B: F-O-R-D Hood Emblem-These are stock and go on the filler panel, between the grill and hood on '48-50 and '52

C: Seat Brackets and Frame-Seat brackets look like the stock ones but there's no wood in a Ford seat of this vintage.

D: Header. I have a Flathead V8, Are there only 3 exhaust ports per side?!?!-Yes, there are only 3 exhaust ports on each side of the flathead V8

E: *****, Buttons, Switches on Dash
The button on the side of the dash is not stock but the one on top is for the vaccum wipers

The little toggle switch is stock, it turns on and off the dash lights. It was use to turn off the dash lights when going down dark country road to eliminate the glare from the dash lights. The gage is not stock.

That's not a stock ignition switch, stock switches are hard to find. The **** to the left of the switch is the choke, but I think that's not a stock pull cable because it doesn't have a "C" molded into it.

The pushbutton on the left is for the starter, this is not a stock button. The one in the center is the headlight switch and should have a "L" on it. The switch on the steering column bracket is not stock.

F: Side View Mirror-THis is not a stock mirror, the arm is wrong and the mounting bracket is also wrong.
Whether to keep or trash the non-stock items is up to you. How stock do you want your truck? I personally would pull all of the non-stock dash parts off and could possibly live with the mirror.

Most of the parts that are non-stock, except for the ignition switch, can be bought from one of the many reproduction parts places like Classic Haulers in IN or Mac's in NY or Dennis-Carpenter directly. LMC also carries most of these parts.

My advice would be to keep everything whether you use it or not until you put your first 100 miles on it. That is my plan anyway. I would have it and not need it rather than have to say later " I wish I would have kept that, I could it use it now"

Stock ignition switches are hard to find? Really? I've got two of them that need new lock cylinders if anyone is interested. Don't know if they have the bezels tho. I also have a good 48-50 choke cable I can't use.

Thanks guys, I'll strip em off and keep em until the new parts arrive.

Do you think that frame with the seat brackets is OEM?

What might that **** on the steering column be?

The **** on the steering column could be an aftermarket horn swith or turn signal?? trace the wire and see where it goes; that is if it still has wires.

Ross,

Make sure that it's an ignition switch for a 48-50 and not a 51-52. The latter are more common and are reproduced. Original 48-50 ignition switches are hard to find.

You're right, mine are 51-on. Never knew there was a difference. Dennis C. sells both for the same price:

http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb....Z5Z5Z50000024C

BTW, I just bought a new ignition lock cylinder for my '52 from MACs. Also a new door lock cylinder. Both are unmitigated junk. I was able to get the ignition cylinder to work well enough with about an hour's buffing on the (completely un-duplicatable) keys, but the door lock was horrible. Couldn't push the key in and wouldn't come out if I managed to get it in. The square shaft was too long, the cylinder was NOT a copy of the original at all. Definitely not recommended!!

Now that someone is reproducing the '48-50 switch the bezel for the '48-50 is the hard part to find.

Doesn't Mac's sell mainly Dennis Carpenter reproduction parts? He's the biggest player in the reproduction parts as far as I know. Bob Drake does some too. There are also a few out there that make a small number of parts.

I think I saw the bezel in MACs, or is that just a generic replacement?
