hey guys its me again so im planning on doing a 5.9 cummins swap in my bronco,im wondering if the frame needs to be reinforced to handle the 1000 pound motor, any other info i could get on this would be awesome, im planning on useing an older 12 valve along with an nv5600 6 speed guys got any input on this?

 

Do a search for old threads, it has been done a couple of times before. There was a good thread by a guy that used the nick American Thunder. I can remember that you will need to reinforce the front suspension with beefier coils at least, not much else.

 

When I asked a Ford dealer shop foreman some E4OD shifting questions he volunteered that the later E4OD held up well with gas engines but not with the torque of the diesels.

 

We have 3 Fords with the cummins in them. My favorite is my 1994. We did not have to do anything to the frame, however I eventually added a leaf in the front as it started to sag a bit with the 1997 12V cummins in it. I also have a small grill guard on it (doesnt weight very much) but that is basically all I had to do on a F350. Now I would assume the Bronco has a softer front end but I have never owned one. A bronco with a cummins would be great.
