7.3L Turbo pics/concerns

I just purchased a 2001 7.3L F250 with 134k. I really love this truck and this site really rocks!

I have been doing some work including door actuators, leaking boots, rear diff cover replacement, fuel bowl oring replacments etc. i have a little game when it comes to working on cars but I must admit this is a totally different animal. What a beast!

The truck starts well and idle is smooth. I feel it could have more power but I'm not sure since it's my first diesel and I think it has an up pipe leak on the passenger side as there is soot on the firewall at that location.

So i decided to remove the intake and take a peek at the turbo and it appears to have a lot/excessive oil residue from the CCV vent. I did the oil cap test when I bought it and I did not notice any back pressure.

Also the nut on the turbo fins looks like it has been rounded off with a wrong socket or something got weged in the turbo at some point

thanks for any input you can provide....

all the nuts look that way.
the CCV puts a lot of oil in there, no problem.

Looks fine, it's a stock super duty wheel. The "nut" has "balancers" on it thats the round portion.

Yep. Truck looks healthy. Some reroute the CCV to prevent that oil build up. The theory is that the oil will eventually condense in the intercooler and pool, restricting air flow and by extension cooling properties of the intercooler. This has been shown to be true, however I am not aware of any documented cases where this has been a drastic problem. Also, rerouting the CCV prevents the oil from seeping through the intercooler boots and dirtying up the engine bay. However, it will just dirty up where ever you dump it to, and this violates any SMOG laws that may be applicable to your area.
