Bed Cap

I'm thinking about putting a cap/shell on the bed of my 2011 Screw. Does anyone have the compression boot between the cap and cab? I'm wondering if the ac will keep up ok and how loud the ride is.

The A/C on my '08 Screw does fine with just the cab but I doubt it would be able to handle the cap as well. I've seen complaints about the A/Cs on later models not doing as well.

I've also read that boots on a cap will wear the paint on the cab of the truck.

I'm sure that compression boots have improved over the years but, I had a cap on an '84 F-150 with the compression boot. It was great to a point but it did leak some, the cab heat/ac were no match for the un-insulated bed and it was somewhat noisy. Additionally it rubbed some of the paint off the back of the cab.

FWIW, I had a compression boot on a cap years ago, and I applied a couple layers of thin, clear packing tape to keep the paint from being rubbed away.
