Swapping a 97 PSD into a 99 superduty

What would I have to do to make it work?

Found a nice donar truck with the PSD and a ZF5 manual both in great shape for cheap.

What would it take to get up and running in my truck?

I'm mostly worried about the wiring.

Thanks!

Are you wanting to put the 97 engine and trans in a 99?
Is the 99 a auto or ZF6?

Yes, I would like to put the 97 PSD and ZF5 into my 99 V10 Auto truck. I'm just not sure how to make it all work. I have heard that everything from the wiring harness, dash instrument cluster, ECM (obviously), and fuse boxes have to be swapped over. I am not sure how compatible the swap would be between the two platforms. I mean, I know the motor will physically bolt in and I can customeize the transmission cross member to fit the ZF5. I don't know what the minimal amount of wiring I would need to make it run and drive.

I know that I could just swap in a Cummins, but I would like to keep it blue.

Thanks!

Jeremiah

Your gonna have to find a 99-03 donor. The wiring in the 94-97 is completely different then the 99-03

You'll also have to change the whole fuel system over from gas to diesel.

If I were you I'd sell the 99 and buy a PSD. Not trying to discourage you but it would be a nightmare to change the 99 over to a PSD using a 97. If you really want to do it find a 99-03 PSD donor

It's on the Atlanta Craigslist. I don't think it's a 4x4. I'm going to just concentrate on my V10 and get it running right and throw a tuner at it, maybe an exhaust.

Thanks!
