I had first two spark plugs break off in my 2005 F150 before stopping. I ran five tanks of injector cleaner through using different brands of cleaner. The next six plugs removed without any issues.
Since then, I replaced 2 plugs after 25000 miles. Used one tank of injector cleaner and had no problem.
I would suggest that anyone planning on changing plugs run some injector cleaner through before the change. The cleaner seems to remove the carbon build-up around the plugs.
Glad it worked for you. Most threads on this topic suggest doing one or two. I do it with every oil change (different brands) and Sea Foam just before plug change. Followed TSB and then some, and still broke off 7 of 8.
I just changerd the plugs out on my 05. Just over 100k never put any additive in the fuel or oil. I used a 3/8 air impact gun and a shot of wd40, changed out all eight plugs with out an issue..
There is only one style plug that will work ("odd length"), though there are a few different brands. For me, I stick with Motorcraft SP515. If you followed the TSB (anti-seize) last time, you will likely be okay this time. I replaced mine a second time after ~20k miles with no problems at all.
