Trans part#HeLP!!!!
I was drivin home mytruck towing a trailer and when I got home I smelled some thing funny. On inspection of my front end the trans line coming out the radiator rotted at the clip that plugs into the radiator and was pouring fluid out.I've spent the last hour or so trying to get a part # froma dealer but no one will give me a number nor can I find a diagram that shows the line so I can order it.my first ? Is if it's rotted at the plug at the radiator does that mean rad is bad also ?2 where can I find a diagram or part # so I can get this ordered. At this point my rig is parked so it's gotta get fixed in placed or towed which suxs ,any help thanks

Yes. They are special push-in release locks. Similar to fuel lines. The dealer should have the fittings - for a price though. You may not be able to salvage the radiator - just depends on how badly rusted/rotted everything is. I just replaced the radiator in my truck. The original fittings from the stock radiator were junk. I found power steering line fittings with the correct thread size/pitch. 16mm I think...(?). Then I bent up some 3/8 brake line and flared the ends going into the rad. and reconnected everything with rubber TRANSMISSION HOSE. Do not use hose that's not rated for the job. Also, there are two o-rings (one per fitting) that are used to seal the hard line to the radiator. Make sure you at least inspect them. If not, Just replace 'em.
Good Luck

my problem now is that the fitting on the radiator is rotted .i had to unscrew the fitting off the radiator to remove the line as it has melded with rust to the line.it is impossible even after cleaning/scraping it to salvage it. Ford says that i need to purchase a new radiator to get these fitting .Autozone and thier competitiors didnt have it either, any ideas would be helpful on what i could do .also the return line that goes to the filter is rotted and the fitting on the rad for that line is just as bad. Thanks, from a man without a truck right now

You know redford thats a great idea .i never thought of that.but because. I had to work all day i couldnt chase that down and no shops are open tomorrow so im going to have to spend 100 bucks and buy the trans filter assembly because that comes with 4 fittings i can use.ifigure ill just replace the old assembly with the new one and just salvage the old fittings plus ill know my
trans filter got replaced.
