truck started ok this morning (need to repelace all battery cables, cranks a bit slow), shut it down for 10 minutes, went tpo start-superr slow 1 crank (4 seconds total), repeated that once more and noticed lots of smoke from the ground cable from voltage regulator to negative post. Put on a new cable-no start/click, jumped solenoid fired right up.
solenoid fried? why would that cable melt?
put my old one on (always need spares of everything!!) statted right up.
also replace all positive and negative cables with 1/0 gauge. Just need to do block to frame ground now. all other wires from solenoid to battery and such with 4 or 6 gauge

the main battery cables should be minimum of 2/0 (i ran 3/0 though a bit overkill.) the diesel starter pulls a lot of amps when cranking.you don't want to shortchange it by cutting the resistance down with 1/0.it might not last.
the only place i knew of to get something that fat was at the audio section of radio shack and i wish it had something better because i need to do my ground cables when my stereo hits it dims really bad and for some reason unknown to my knowledge i turn on the blinker and every blink comes a dim lol weird and funny but want to fix that really badly any ideas

Are you using an aftermarket amp? Might want to look into a capacitor if you are.
im only pushing a 1200w amp white and yes its up all the way and most of the time its down all the way on the stereo lol but makes my face vibrate alot lol. other than that i think i know whats going on because i was looking at my tail lights on the way home today and realized i dont have any brake lights so i think i done something wrong when i hooked up my wire for the license plate light but thats an easy fix so
