REPO STEEL BODIES

Hi all, just wondering what you guys think about the steel repo bodies being built now. I'm know about the Ch**y and Ford F100 repos as well as the early Fords. Do you think it increases value of the original steel or the opposite. A little off topic but just curious what you guys think about it.

I don't think they will effect too much as they are very pricey. Perhaps over the years it might turn into "originals vs kit-cars", but I think it will be a while. So many of these trucks where made, it's going to be a while till they start being difficult to find and longer after that till using a repo body will take any fashion. If they where $1000 I could seem them being a problem at the moment, but right now the bridge between the cost of a build and the cost of a repo body is pretty huge. Heck, you could do a full build for the cost of just a repo cab.

Guess I was thinking more in terms of resale value. Like glass bodies are kind of looked down on and not worth as much as original steel. I guess I wonder if an original is worth more or not?

I think it's too soon to tell for the later stuff, like our trucks or Mustangs and Camaros, but I would imagine the repops would be worth far less than a genuine model just because there are still so many real ones readily available. But for things like 32 Fords, etc., where it's nearly impossible to find original iron anymore, a repro steel hotrod will sell for about as much as a 'real' steel one, and more than a 'glass car. In the end, though, it has more to do with the quality of construction than materials. That's my observations.
