Tire question for 51 F1

Does anyone know the origional tire size on the 1951 F1, 5 Star trucks? Did they come with White Walls from the factory? If so how wide was the white wall?
Thanks in advance

No white walls from the factory. I believe that the original size was 6.50x16. However, many were later replaced with 15" wheels.

I have a set of 6.50x16 WWW (about 3-4" wide) on my 52.

6.00x16 4 ply was the standard size tires on 16x4.5" rims. A 6.00x16 6 ply and a 6.50x16 6 ply were optional sizes which increased the load capacity slightly. All tires used the same rims.

I believe that White Walls were a Dealer option, so if you bought it new from a Dealer they would install WWW for you at a cost.

Although I don't have the option book any longer I was checking on available options for my 1950 Merc. and an Electric Shaver was among one of the options, as well as White Wall Tires, to name a couple.

Any dealer worth his salt and that wanted to make a sale would install most anything that a customer wanted. That would have included things like radios, heaters, spot lights, and yes, white wall tires. But the fact of the matter is, ww's were not regular production items or available from the "factory" on trucks. And I would imagine the number of people wanting ww's on their work truck was pretty minimal back then. The purchase of trucks was about 99% utilitarian 60 years ago, unlike the people today who spend $60K for a 4 door King Ranch F-350 with a short bed.

White walls were an option. The only pictures I have seen of trucks originally equipped with white walls were either special demonstrator trucks or on panel delivery trucks for flower shops and the like.

Here is a picture of a specially painted demonstrator (without white walls):https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...l-picture.html
