Trans temp gauge reading 8123, limp mode...!?

I have a scan gauge 2. Today on the way to work my truck went into limp mode, the tow haul light was flashing and the check gauge light was illuminated. Scan gauge showed trans temp of 8124 degrees, factory gauge was sitting at bottom. Did a scan and sg said no codes Pulled over and restarted and all was normal. On my lunch break drove to a store, all was normal, left it idling while I ran in, when I came back out, it was in limp mode again, same deal. Restarting didn't help. Sg still says no codes. Drove back to work in limp mode. It went back to regular for like 30 seconds on the way, then went back into limp mode. Worried about why it's doing this and need help. Truck is the excursion in my sig with about 85k miles.

What does the Scan Gauge say for trans temp? May be just a bad trans temp sender in the tranny.

When not in limp mode it reads normally. Around 155-165 usually. In limp mode, like I said, the factory trans temp gauge drops the needle on the bottom peg, and the scan gauge says 8123 or 8124

YOU HAVE A BAD Tranny TEMP Sensor

A BAD Temp sensor will cause ALL your problems Harsh Shift & Limp MOde

Mine does this to Occasinaly as the truck coming to normal temp once at normal temp its Fine mine would jump to the same 8100* range then drop to 80* then Back up and basicaly ALL Over

Change the temp sensor and you will be fine

Rough estimate on a replacement sensor? Just started a new job and won't get paid for a month. Ugh.

Guess you could go really cheap and save the fluid and change the sensor and filter and put the Old Fluid Back in

this way you would be $$12.00 plus shipping

probably get it done under $$20.00

how much fluid does the tranny hold anyway? With my mileage I'm due for a fluid change, so maybe I'll just live with it for now and change the fluid when I get my paycheck.
