2001 7.3L Diesel F350 with P0603 and P0732 Trouble codes

Looking for some help on what to do to repair P0603 (Internal Control KAM error) and P0732 (Gear Two Ration error). Truck does have problem shifting into second if heavy on the pedal. Truck is automatic 4 speed with overdrive transmission. Advise is welcome.

Don't worry about the P0603 that's cause by dissconecting the batteries

For the trans code you'll have to wait for one of the trans experts to chim in

That code is bad news on a 2001. Along with the symptoms you mentioned I'm almost certain that the mechanical diode is failing. That involves a complete rebuild to replace it.

Mechanical Diode Pictures

Toward the bottom of the page are pics of the small locking tangs.

The fact they are so small and there are only four of them it is no wonder that they
will break and cause the Mechanical Diode to no longer act as a one-way clutch.

Thx. I was afraid of that. Any idea on how much a rebuild costs?

I'd be very wary of a $1500 rebuild, especially when replacing a mechanical diode. That requires replacing several hard parts that usually are not replaced during a rebuild. That adds cost.

I agree. I was just say they start around 1500 and can go up depending on what all is trashed
