1966 econoline supervan VIN decode help please

I am purchasing a 1966 econoline supervan and would like to have some more information on it, and don't have a decoder for the VIN. I'm completely new to all of this so any help is appreciated. The VIN is E16FH749727

The E16 means that it is a SuperVan, which is the extended length van.

F means a 170 cui six-cylinder engine

H means the van was assembled in Lorain, Ohio, which is where all of them were made.

The rest of the numbers indicates it was built in September 1965 for a 1966 model.

If you enter the rest of the data on the door plate, that could be decoded here as well.

Hi Swampy...I as well as one other who would likely come to this forum has the books to fully decode your warranty plate.

As far as them all being built in Lorain...thats interesting as I just found a Supervan...which really shouldnt be in the yard...But if theres stuff you are needing, email me and I can go and see if it has the parts or other stuff you are seeking.

The VIN decoder on here is very hit and miss... The only totally accurate source for warranty plate decoding are the Ford Master Parts Catalog which I as well as a few others have.

The VIN Decoder that I posted a link for is not the one that you are referring to.

www.econolineID.com is specifically designed for 1961-1967 Econolines, and will decode only 1961-1967 Econoline data plates. It uses the Ford Truck Parts and Accessories Catalogs, Ford Econoline Shop Manuals, and other sources. All efforts have been made to correct the erroneous data found in those sources. Data and visual inspection of various Econolines have also been used to further refine the quality of the data on that website.

Not all were built in Lorain! Some came from Oakville, Ontario.

I should have said that if it has a USA warranty (VIN) number, then it was built in Ohio and has an "H" as the fifth digit.

The Canadian-built Econolines, built from 1961 to 1965, used a different vehicle numbering system.

Correct as always Number Dummy.

In case someone missed what I said earlier. The following VIN Decoder is specifically for 1961-1967 Econolines.

http://EconolineID.com/

It uses the Ford Truck Parts and Accessories Catalogs, Ford Econoline Shop Manuals, and other sources. All efforts have been made to correct the erroneous data found in those sources. Visual inspection of many Econolines (i.e. crawling inside and underneath) have also been used to further refine the quality of the data on that website.
