man i cant seem to win with these things called tires! ive had 4 nails in 2 weeks and today my left front tire is going flat. thankfully i made it home before the stupid 16.5" had a chance to dismount.
hopefully when it cools down i can get out there and soap up the tire see whats going on.

Thanks guys. The tires are a little rough around the edges (haha literally) but they will do. I from the reviews I've read and talking to Dave's dad who owned a set once, I would never buy these off a shelf. But because of the price I'll take them. They give me plenty of time to get saved up for the tires I really wanted.
I got the tires serviced today. Nothing but good things to say about Americas Tire Co.
They pulled a nail and a screw out of two tires, and fixed them. Balanced, and inspected them for free. Then I paid $50 for new lug nuts, and was upgraded to the locking kind for free (normally $20 more).
The tires rub, and I am slowly taking a little inner fender off at a time to fix it. They also hum. A lot. But not too much. I can get used to it.

found my leak! one of the rims was repaired prior to me getting them. i can tell by the lumpy sanded surface and dull area where the weld repair was done and not polished back to match the rest of the rim.
anyways i got a 2" hairline crack that's leaking. so when sun sets in a little while and the temps outside come down a touch ill grab the impact and toss the spare on.

Had a successful day at the local junkyard with my dad. Got a ford RKE module and some door actuators and window motors. Gonna be putting keyless entry into the 63 and I'm playing around with power windows for it. Hard part with the windows will be making it so you cant tell they are there till you use them.

Yes - got the custom hitch. Morse Muffler in Burbank, California.
Here's some pictures of the truck and the tow.

Thankfully, the truck held up OK except for the brakes which I have to check. It's a big boat (18k lbs) so it was pulling me into the water as we backed down the ramp. I had to put the car in drive to keep from being pulled into the water.
Unfortunately, the boat didn't fare so well - broken trailer jack, dead battery, snapped winch line. We never did get out on the water.

Pop,
I am very pleased to say that other than the brakes the truck did exactly what I wanted. Since I stayed below 10mph the entire way, there was no issue with lack of accelration on startup (as was my concern when you drove the truck). I might even say it drove "better" towing than it does not towing.
Unless someone chimes in with other information, I'm going to call the folks at RiffRaff Diesel in the morning to see what they can sell me by way of brakes. As I mentioned previously, my E-brake in its current state does not work so that may be an additional issue. Given the weight of the boat, I still might not want to simply set the E-brake on the truck and jump out to release the boat from the trailer/winch. Otherwise, I might be fishing for my truck instead of the local Dorado.
I'll try to post updates as things progress.

David,
Clay at RiffRaff has a good selection of premium pads, and has them priced very attractively.
While you are talking to Clay, ask him about "upgraded slide pins" for the front calipers. They have rubber seals on them to prevent lubricant loss and water incursion. They eliminate slide pin rusting and sticking. Ford changed to this design in later years, and it's a good, relatively-cheap upgrade.
