I'll likely be looking for a smaller fuel efficient car to use as our dinghy vehicle...likely a Hyundai Elantra newer body style with a manual transmission...it is a mid 30's mpg vehicle that I personally like the looks of for a small car...has nice interior space for a near 40mpg vehicle!
Roy,
The Cat sure does get good reviews...the one we're looking at only has 42K miles on it so it's barely broken in!

Hey Joe, you need to get a Mini Cooper for you, then you and your wife can race each other around Fort Wayne... kind of like a scene from that move "The Italian Job"

I don't like the micro Fords...the interiors are well...micro like the rest of the cars.
Hyundai has done an excellent job or making a small car with nice interior room.
We've got the one Mini...but you just can't flat tow a Mini...it would require a trailer behind...which poses additional issues at campgrounds...not out of the question...but just additional issues/challenges.
Hey Rob...my buddy just bought a '74 F100...he's looking for help with a headlight switch replacement...I'm trying to find his thread he said he posted...

There are only so many cars approved by their mfg that are "flat" towable and of those that are...even fewer "could" be on my short list to purchase!
The Austin Healy is a neat idea...only issue is we'd need another 2 seats to carry all four of us when we get to our destinations for sight seeing!...
I rarely use "my" vehicle...I drive 4 miles each way to work and then 25 miles to the airport where it sits a bunch...I'd really like a car that got better than teens or lower...the Ex got 10-13 depending on tank/driving conditions...the mini van gets mid teens since it rarely sees a highway...it is actually a horrible gas consumer...the Mini Cooper does pretty good around town (mid-20's) and seldom sees much highway mileage but it can get close to 40 on straight highway (38)...so given that the price of petrol has seemed to settle at near $4 per gallon I'd like a fuel efficient car for me that can also be towed as a dinghy.
Now...Mia is going to start driving soon (she's 15 now)...and we'll likely put her in the mini VAN at first since it gives her some protection...that will mean that Tracey needs a new car too...that car would have the bells and whistles...She likes the new Hyundai Santa Fe (2013)...she has always liked Crossover-SUV's and I really cannot argue with her that the new body styling on the 2013 is pretty nice...we'll have to see what we end up for her...again...mpg's are going to be a big deciding factor as fuel costs are here to stay...
My morning if off to a nice start as I have taken Mia to her cross-country practice and they are working the 5K race today as a fund raiser for her team...I'll have to pick her up later this morning...
I have to clean out the van as it is a pit...way over due.
I did clean up the Ex yesterday...buffed out some of the minor surface scuffs from this past trip of driving up the "roads" that were 1.5 lanes wide and 2 way traffic with trees/branches right next to the road...so just some minor surface stuff that buffed right out...the truck is pretty clean right now.
I also have to cut the grass, do some weeding and weed spraying too.
Plus we have a wedding tonight...not to far from here...so that's good...friends of ours who live in Colorado Springs now (both are from this area).
Monday we've got an appointment to go see the motor coach again...going to take it for a test drive this time and go through a lot of the mechanical systems/etc as well as review the maintenance records and if everything checks out we'll start the negotiation process...
Well I hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday!
I'll check in later.
Joe.
