Warranty is up. Time for a tuner?

So all my warranty is up at 55000 miles, but over 5 years, so I figured it may be time to do a dpf delete. I was thinking of doing a mini maxx, but I can't make up my mind about the exhaust. I would love to do a 5" straight pipe from the down pipe back, but the only thing is I may have to take the truck in for emissions yearly. Thinking this, I was thinking for convenience sake I would just use the stock system and use a dpf delete pipe to just remove the dpf and doc for simplicity sake. Will there be a significant penalty for running the stock system with the dpf and doc delete versus a full 4 or 5" system? I am assuming it wont really he an issue on no or low power tunes but will there be any issues running say the 300 hp tune? Or is removing the entire system down pipe back vs. just removing the dpf and doc not as much of an issue as I am thinking?

Egr I am thinking is going to stay on because I can tell removing and installing it for emissions once a year isn't going to happen.

If you are going to stay on the lower tunes, the stock exhaust will be fine.

If you need to pass emissions once a year, you definately want a tune that functions the EGR valve sometimes to keep it from sticking.

I would just use the delete pipe, my friend ran spartans 275 tune on the stock exhaust and air intake, and didn't have any issues. He did say once he hot larger exhaust later on, he thought he felt a difference, but not much.

FYI some 6.4's can't take huge tunes, and some can. I mean a lot of different things with that statement, but the important thing for you to know is that although lots of guys drive the heck out of their trucks, the 6.4 is very good at holding tunes, but you get the odd one that has issues surface, possible from before you even tuned it, but don't notice it until after.

I really enjoyed my spartan tuner, but there are a few things I wondered about, or felt unsure about, but I'm not super experienced with tuners, so I might just be nervous, or overthinking things.

I take it the main point of a larger exhaust is to help keep egt's down? What exactly do you mean by "lower" tunes? Like I should stay on say 40 or 100 hp tunes? Or is say 250 considered "lower"?

If I just went with a down pipe back full 5" system how much harder and time consuming would you all say it would be to swap then just the delete pipe? (or should I just avoid doing this at all? I can do basic stuff like brakes, alternators, water pumps, radiators, etc... At this level would I be getting in over my head?

Also, what type of egt's are acceptable? I know when I used to fly turbocharged piston airplanes I think they would say like not to exceed 1650 degrees peak and no more than 1550 continuous. Would that be too hot for these motors?

Sorry for all the questions, your answers are appreciated

In the floor, I can have a 5" downpipe back exhaust on the truck in 45 mins. I have done a few. The idea behind the bigger exhaust is for lower EGTs. I have a few guys I have deleted that run up to the 210 tow tune on the stock exhaust.

These motors can take some heat, but i wouldn't let it see over 1300* for an extended period.
