I hav a 88 f150 and it has very loose steering in the steering wheel what could cause this and how would I diagnosis the problem?

 

There are alot of things that could cause this. steering box, steering shaft, alignment, tie rods, ball joints, tires, etc. etc. Lift the front of your truck and see if there is play up and down, grease the front end and steering shaft, check your tire pressure. and you can go from there.

 

My truck had loose steering like blow on the wheel and turn type. i had to tighten up my steering box. however, by tightening up the steering box you allow everything to steer through a stiffer motion, that being said, you might aquire wobble and or bump steer
