I suck at FTE search. Need fuel pre-filter help!

I'm in the middle of a hutch mod and my pre-filter/water separator will be ready for install today. I forgot where I saw pictures and tips on doing this, and doing a search overloaded me with gas engines and "What did you do to your truck today?" links with novellas to read. Can somebody link me or post some help please?

When you search it helps to select the advanced search tab. Then put a check mark on this forum and it will be the only one searched.

Tugly,go into your search settings/options and un-check all "search in" forums except the 99to03 forums, that way all results will be 7.3 based.

Also in advanced search select "search titles only" rather than the default "search entire post"

Very true. That way you don't get every thread where somebody has pre pump filter in their sig.

I used one of these universal bases.

Product - BuyCheapr.com

with a baldwin BF1259 filter.

I made a mount for it and placed it on the drivers side truck frame. More or less under the rear door (crew cab).

That base will take a number of filters. BF5577, BF 957, BF 1259 etc etc...

Dn29626 how does that filter work as far as keeping some of the junk out of the fuel bowl how often do you change it and such. Sorry to hijack the thread but I'm getting ready to a pre pump filter.

It is rated for diesel. Let me check my records for the change intervals.
Bare in mind i run vo so i challenge my filters more than most operators do. This is the first of three fuel filters on my truck.

BINGO! That's the one I was looking for. That's what I bought because I was inspired by this photo. I like the angle-iron setup you have, I was designing something simpler to build, but harder to install. Your method looks more appealing to me. I need to get the 1/2" male thread-to-3/8" barb fittings and the tubing. Do you have pictures of modified connections from the tank to the pump? I was able to acquire the Ford quick-connect fuel fittings and release tool at the Irish car parts store. I also found the fuel tank tubing and compression fitting in a kit for $9.00. I know I gould get it cheaper if I really looked for it in my small burg... but this was grab and go.

This is the filter today.

I went to this one this year (2012). I was thinking i had replaced it once already but i have not. It has already out performed the filter i was using.
I have two more in the glove box waiting for replacement time. I will either replace it when:
1) i feel the truck begin to starve for fuel
2) preparing on going out of town
3) i up and decide to go ahead and do it
I would like to see how far i can go (#1 above).

The filter listed by crewcab turbo(above) is similar to my second filter.

If you need more info, please PM me or start another thread so this hijack can end.

I apolgize if this is a dumb question but don't these pre-pump filters put stress on the fuel lifting/sending unit? If so, is the stress material?
