I will put this on the reminder list of things to do before deploying!! So I am kind of new to the diesel thing. How hard is it to time this motor. Is it a lot of work or just an easy task with the right tools?
The old pig is running decent, still doesn't make crap for boost - maybe 6 WOT. I need to max the fuel screw and see what it does then besides explode.
If I can make it, I'll bring a cam
Would you dyno, replace the cam and then dyno again? That would be awesome man! Do it!

Probably not, would be neat seeing before and after numbers on same block but this engine is tired.
I've got a second block I'll slowly be rebuilding. This old block has seen some sh** but keeps on ticking. Looks like it is an early casting that the prior owner found at a junkyard, judging from the facts that: the block number lines up, there is a huge leaky weld pile where my freeze plug should be, and there are big numbers written w/ grease pen on the valve covers sans stickers. Oh and oil pan is crushed, I'm guessing he tried to use a jack on it..?
Spare motor needs rebuilt but is a 87 6.9 and I've got studs and victor head gaskets for it. When I get away from work I plan on rebuilding. Then a fat turbo, fuel, etc
Ok, the date is confirmed, and set in stone as 18AUG2012 @ Dynomite Diesel Performance in Monroe, WA. I didn't confirm a start time yet because we need to gauge a headcount, but if we get a decent amount of trucks I'm thinking start around 9-10am.
Also, if we do get enough people like I'm hoping, they will pull out the BBQ and cook for us

Thanks for the invite and should be alot of fun!

Are you at JBLM also? If so we can roll up together. As for timing, its easy with the right tools.
