Informal Poll: Do you support your truck for what it is?

Considering our trucks can be noise pollution to the un-initiated, just curious to see how many of you let your truck be what it is (big, loud and sometimes smelly - like a good dog) or do you justify/apologize to neighbors/friends/family about how your truck behaves? Let's face it, these trucks stand out like a sore thumb with the modern gas/diesel and hybrid engines that cannot be heard even when trying.

While I can't help cracking a smile each time I fire her up or listen to the F-16 jet howl she needs to warm on a cold winter morning, my neighbors have a different opinion.

As for me: I offer no apologies but offer a smile and a ride.

I do not care what anyone else thinks about my truck. It is mine and that is it. That said, I am not a screw ball.

I got home last night at 4:45am, and idled through my neighborhood at 20mph with only my marker lights on to avoid shining my lights in houses.
If you think this is unsafe, you havent seen my truck at night. It is well lit with just marker lights. But this way I can keep from waking the baby that just got put down, or the officer who got off a long shift 2 hours ago, etc.

Yeah.....Huge filter, ball bearing turbo, stacks. My truck is big loud and smelly...like me. I make no apologies for either one.

Quite the opposite. I prefer it this way.

where i live it is mostly rich immigrants from main land china, who were corrupt officials and factory owners. they drove up the property prices to the millions. i dont give a flying F*** what they think. i'll let it idle up as much as i feel like and i make sure to drive nice and slow, keeping RPMS down, and watch the BMW's and mercede's line up behind me.

I do not apologize. If they think its loud, stinky and ugly then so be it. This is the way I see it mine is paid for and will most likely out last the new trucks

I obviously live in a different kind of neighborhood.

My truck is not smelly... it's "Stinky". Apologize? I named it Stinky. I didn't fit-in in my area until after I bought a monster diesel 4X4... it's the norm here. Now modding... that hasn't completely caught on yet. This gives me the distinction of being one of the baddest badasses nearby. Yes, there are those who really muscle up, but they are rare.

Apologize? Hasn't ever crossed my mind.
I figure it's normal to have three of these things in the driveway.....right?

Nope.

It's the smallest, lightest and quietest diesel that comes in and out my drive. I also mow my lawn with a 4wd diesel tractor with a front loader on it.

I was here first.

apologize??? HELL NO!!!

I am what and who I am, and no liberal, whiny, coffee spritzing, prius driving wimp is going to cry me to shame.
My truck is the cleanest power beast that I know of. It is well maintained, decent looking, and very comfortable. I don't apologize for any of that.

I will get pissed at those who waste our environment by 'rollin coal' all over the area. Those idiots are the kind of degenerates that cause problems for others.

100% ! I don't drive my truck much on a day to day basis, but I still enjoy driving it as if it were my first trip. I love it for the smells, sounds, ride, and the way it drives.

The apartment I just moved into provides plug ins for the winter time, so my neighbors will be spared the long struggling warms up that the tenants in my last apartment complex had to endure. Being that I live in Alaska and diesels are quite common, I would be somewhat shocked if someone cried about it.
