Have a '94 F150 regular cab, short bed. Cats were gutted and I had a "muffler shop special" glasspack welded on a couple of years back.

I'm really wanting to duplicate the 1st Gen Lighting exhaust setup. I have done some research on the net, but cannot find any detailed information, and I do not know anyone personally who owns a 1st Gen.

I basically just need to know what aftermarket tips are as "close" as you can get to the OE tips? I prefer polished stainless steel; just need to know length, outlet diameter, rolled cut-ends or not, and 45* or 15* degree slants... Also, some measurements as to where to have the tips welded would be great as well.

Did you got any kind of idea on how to do that? I can help because I am looking to do the same thing. We can do it together.

 

The GEN 1's had a true dual stainless steel exhaust system that exited out behind the rear passenger wheel. There were no special exhaust tips installed on the truck from the factory.

Thanks for your response, as well. I must be off on the design of the 1st Gen's setup. My desire is to duplicate the twin-tipped exhaust that exits in front of the passenger's side rear wheel.

 

In that case, you're talking about the Gen 2 Lightning.

The Gen 1's didn't have that setup.

You can clearly see what you've described, here in this picture.

That's it, except I thought that was factory on the 1st Generation as well. I guess a lot of the 1st Gen's I've seen have duplicated it as well...

I have a GEN 1 Lightning and it does have factory dual exhaust with flowmaster mufflers. It also has cats on both pipes. They are stacked on top of each other until it get to the mufflers and the mufflers are welded together. I had to replace it b/c the tailpipes rotted off. And it is a pain in the A•S, as no one really makes any parts for these trucks and all the mufflers shop want to do is fabricate an exhaust for about $800 bucks. Luckily I know an old timer that had an exhaust bender and we custom fabbed the tail pipes and front pipes and I bought two new flows, about $170 plus a few hrs of work. Good luck. This should give you an idea of what you're after and it exits just in front of the passenger rear tire. This particular setup will work with a 2wd pickup.

What is the O.D of your tips, and are they "blunt" or slanted ends?

 

The tips are 3" pieces that have a slight bend towards the rear tire and they're cut to be even/flush with the side of the bed like the GEN 2's. It's hard to see it in the second pic but the first one shows it a little better.

My bad, 94150 (...and Matt), sorry for the wrong info. I thought for sure the Gen 1's exited after the rear tire, not before.

I too like the look of the dual side exit behind the tire. This is how the 1st gen Lightning came stock. Its the best pictures I could find quickly.

I'm not really a fan of side exit in front of the tire. On some trucks it looks fine, but usually I just don't care for it.

I had mine this way with 3x12 inch stainless angle cut tips for a while. It looked alot like this. I had mine tucked up higher though. The stock stuff just hangs down too low. I went back to straight out the rear. I think it looks better on my long bed.

If your going true duals, I suggest Dynomax Ultraflo Welded. They are also available in single/dual. They sound awesome!

Yes they GEN 1's did exit out behind the rear tire. I mentioned this to the OP in an earlier post, and learned they he was actually looking for a side exit system, like the GEN 2's.

The exhaust system I have posted is an aftermarket GEN 2 style that I have on my truck.
