I come seeking guidance & wisdom. '97 F150, 5.4, 2 X 4, auto. When engine is not completely warmed up, I sometimes get a hesitation/stall/shudder when shifting into 3rd. This happens mostly during rapid accelleration. When the stall occurrs, if I back off the pedal it drops into O/D, and the problem seems to go away. The stall is pretty bad..., complete loss of power. Once warmed up, if I do a couple of courses of rapid accelleration it seems to clean up and go away. Changed fuel filter, but no change. I suspect a vacuum leak, but not sure. All other gears pull strong, just this one little occasional issue.
Also, in trying to fix this problem, I noticed that I would lose A/C during 3rd gear accelleration. Found & fixed some shot vacuum hoses and the A/C problem was fixed. But still getting the occasional 3rd gear stall. Any body got any suggestions?
Thanks,
Doulie
