I think the Turbo just died.

I was getting off of the highway and all of a sudden sounded like some grinding and smoke and slowed to a crawl. No codes, no leaks (that I could see), Job 1 truck. Tow driver said he thought it was a turbo as well since they go through so many. Son of a... Was leaving on vacation Friday, looks like we are taking the Volvo.

Are you planning to return the truck to stock and hope for warranty?

The job1 trucks seem to the eating through turbo pretty fast these days. Hopefully Ford gets things figured out pretty soon!

Is ford bad about honoring warranty for suspension mods and wheel and tire mods or is it only when you remove emission control devices.

Are the turbo issues mostly on job 1 2011 trucks or is this across the board.

I barely drive this thing, that is what bums me out. Kind of bums me out. Suspension shouldn't have anything to do with the turbo. I hear the Job 1's have turbo issues and the replacement turbos have a different part number. I'm pretty positive that is the issue with mine. No leaks or any codes. Just some smoke, limp speeds and what sounds like rattling or grinding.

I was referring to the tuner/deletes, but Ford has bitched about lifts and wheels before.

From what I've heard/read the turbo failures are across the board. Some early 2011 trucks are fine, some 2012 truck blow a turbo at 10,000 miles. Mostly early job 1 trucks though. The new 'super-balanaced' turbo seems to be helping some, but that turbo has blown up too. One guy on another site had his turbo replaced in march with the new style. The new turbo blew up last month with less than 10k on it.

Andrew I was referring to TBR17's post when replying. I leave for vacation tomorrow night so the truck will probably sit until I return. Dealer isn't close enough to me.

23K. Haven't towed anything in over a year (shoulder surgery in Jan, going back in for surgery again next month). Truck is barley used. Maybe it's pissed at me

Thank you, that means a lot. I will enjoy my vacation, but it may be cut short now. It is what it is. I just want her working again.

I will be alright. Just a minor setback. I just hope there is nothing HPFP related. From the old threads, it sounds like a nightmare. Again, no codes, very strange. Maybe I did not let it run long enough to throw a code?

Tow Truck Driver: "This truck is bad A.."

Me: "When it works, yes. Thanks though."

Tow Truck Driver: "It looks sweet just sitting here!"

Me: "Thanks man".

LOL
