2004 f250 outside temp unit

Hey guys, so this unit in my fathers f250 went out about 4 years ago now but we never really cared too much about it to look into it after the dealership it would cost $400 to fix. The unit in question is in the picture below and it is just simply off. Holding both buttons does not do anything, however the illumination on the buttons lights up when the headlights and parking lights are on so i know at least the buttons have power. I looked through the manual and could not find any fuse for this thing, but checked all fuses that it might be going off. I would pull the unit down but I have no idea how it is secured. Any help to get this sucker to work? Thank you!

Go up in the forum that relates to your truck and do a search, or better yet do a google search(google actually searches this board better than the board's search) and look for "overhead console repair" or "bad solder overhead console" or something like that.

I am going to guess you have the classic "bad solder joint" problem, and there are some good write ups on how to fix it if you know how to solder the resistors back on the circuit board. I do know if you take it apart, you have to be careful, because some of the resistors actually fall off the board and when you take it apart, you could lose them.
