Great looking truck. Love the patina and overall look. I actually like the wheels. It's something you don't see everyday on an old truck or at least I don't see. Very cool and thanks for posting the pics. Best of luck with the truck

Welcome to the FTE, . You will find more information and cooperation here than anywhere else on the web. That is a great looking project you have and we will all be paying attention to your progress as you post updates.

Those wheels are very interesting... They are very much like the old Halibrand Magnesium castings and very desireable among collectors here and elsewhere. I think they were offered/used on some of the early A.C. Cobras using a pin drive design. Halibrand also cast the wheels in aluminum. Are there any casting identification marks on the back side of the wheels?

Welcome! Here we don't consider that a rat rod, a rat rod would be just the cab and bed channeled over the frame, top heavily chopped, no fenders, no hood, grill from an old tractor or ?. The term was originally coined to mean a vehicle put together as cheaply as possible from mismatched extra junk parts that were laying around. It has a negative connotation in most circles.

What do you mean that isn't a rat rod? Not only is it a rat rod, it's an OFFICIAL RAT ROD! Says so right on the door.

Actually, the term rat rod was coined.... Oh forget it, been there, done that.

It might have been a Rat Rod before Max got to it but, it appears that it won't be for long.

Nice truck! The hood is from a 52, so you may have a 52 instead of a 51 (unless the hood was replaced sometime throughout the years). Does the hood latch panel (between the upper fenders) have holes for the FORD letters?
