96' F-250 Manual Trans. Reverse Gear Grinding

I'm having problems with my manual transmission grinding pretty loud when I try to put my truck in reverse in the morning when it's cold. It usually goes into reverse without a grinding noise after it warms up throughout the day.
It really does fine with shifting through all the other gears. Reverse seems to be the problem. Could this be my pressure plate going out? Do I just replace my whole clutch? Any thoughts on what this might be?

Also, has anybody had their pressure plate replaced and how much does this roughly cost? Or what would be the proper procedure in doing this right the first time?

I'm not well versed on this truck. This is my first F-250 and still learning lot's about it. THANKS in advance!

Check the pivot joint under the dash for the master to the clutch pedal.
I bet its worn really bad and your not getting full clutch dissengagement.

How do I get access to that under the dashboard? I don't know where exactly it's located. Thanks!

A trick until you fix it is engage the clutch and slide into 1st, then into reverse. Normally goes into gear a lot easier then without the grinding. Guess syncrhos? Not much of a tranny guy.

90% of the time with our trucks its just the clutch rod end bushing.

Just crawl up under there with a flashlight. its just about strait up from the go pedal.

My truck does the same thing. Shift into 4th then reverse. Works everytime for me. Guess I should just get another new bushing haha.

Ok, status on problem. Well, placing the truck in first gear and then reverse works well for me right now. I'll look into the bushing when I have more time. Thanks again for sharing the info guys, Hat tip to ya'll!
