The stories are true!

I just traded my 2009 f350 superduty 6.8L V10 for a 2010 f250 King Ranch with the 6.4 powerstroke. It has only 17000 mi, so i put an S&B cai, H&S mini maxx tuner, full egr delete, MBRP performance exhaust, and an air dog II fuel system. I loved my V10, but the difference is night and day! I never realized a tuned diesel could run so great! im not knocking gassers at all, i wish i could own both, but im now sold on the 6.4 and what it can do. I tow a 13000lb 5er and the King Ranch pulls it like its not there! I've heard a lot of horror stories about diesels, but so far so good!

How did the V10 compare with the Diesel before you tuned it?

I did just the opposite, I have owned the Cummins but it was wrapped in a dodge with a horrible drivetrain. Then I bought the 6.0 Powerstroke nothing but trouble from day one, almost got it Lemon Lawed, but tradded it in instead for the Duramax.

Duramax was great till it started with the fuel rail sensors and different valves malfunctioning sending it into limp mode all the time. I travel up and down the east coast for work and I have been stranded on the road with all of them.

Then my friend told me too try out the V10 with 4:30 gears so in 2008 I bought my forever truck and have been soooooo Happy !! This truck does it all and does it on regular gas 7quarts of oil and a filter and Wally World carries Motorcraft.

congrats, stick to the 5K oil changes and oem filters...which you can also buy at wally world.

Check your nitrates every 20K and use for the ford gold coolant/napa stuff.

Even stock, the 6.4 is a powerhouse! Thats taking nothing from the 6.8, i love that engine also, but when towing it really screams and hunts for gears on hills, the diesel simply doesnt! I love that truck! Once again, im not knocking the V10!

Congrats on the trade…new trucks rock, whether they're new or used, gas to diesel or diesel to gas. I came from a Duramax and still miss the engine and transmission when towing. But now that I've gotten used to the V10, it is awesome.

Your right about the downshifting on hills, but there two different animals. And the V10 works real strong on the top end while the diesel does it on the low end.

Not to bust your ***** or anything...

Today on the way home from work some younger guy like me pulled up next to me in his modded 6.4 PSD. He kinda revved it up at me at the stop light and when it turned green we both gave her hell and my v10 hung right with him like it was nothing!

I'm glad you like your new toy and i hope you enjoy just as much as your v10 if not more!

Have never seen a guy apologizing so much for loving his new truck more than the old one.
ENJOY.

There lies the trouble. A lot of owners do not like it when they hit the top of a long pull in 3rd gear with the engine at 4500 RPM. The Triton engines will work for them if the owners just put the truck in drive and let the engine sing.

Congrats on the new Power Stroke. It sounds like an awesome truck.

congrats sir! sounds like a great pick up.

let us know how the reliability compares to your V10, the 6.4 that shares the parking lot with my 01 6.8 has been to the dealer alot for warranty work, sometimes for weeks, my trucks only been back to the dealer for a pinion seal in 11 years of service
