Mustang Appreciation Thread

My sister who babysat me (much to her chagrin) somehow wrangled her boyfriend's yellow 66 fastback (sorry purists, I prefer that over sports roof) to cruise Westland Plaza in Jackson & the Shoney's Big Boy there when I was about 7-8 in '67. I'd stretch out in the cargo area with the seat folded down & watch the streetlights & stars go by while listening to the music. My folks had given me a 64-65 coupe toy that came from our local dealer when they bought our 65 Custom 500. (Think Galaxy) Wish I still had that coupe.
I still have a rusted out 73 Mach I (tape job only. 135hp 302/C-4/peg-leg 8 inch rear) that I bought on 7/7/77 as well as my 92 GT (ORIGSIN) white, porno red interior. Neither of which I plan on parting with. I've always longed for a 69 GT that I let get away. 390/4bbl/4-speed, pwr steering & no air or pwr brakes.
That's a sample of my appreciation for Ford's pony.

I tend to like all the early Mustangs. Natural since I was 15 in 1968 and wanted a Mustang when I turned 16. Then I turned 16 and my father suggested the Cougar he bought 22 months earlier and was used as a company car. Oooook. Got it for a great price and didn't really miss the Mustang or so I thought. Bought a worn out one in 1984 to be my first restoration from engine to exterior to interior. Wanted to do it all myself so I found an ordinary hardtop owned by the original owner from Texas. Took me 4 years to finish and it is one fun car to drive. Nice handling, good pep for a 289-2V, and completely stock when seen at Fun Ford where almost all Mustangs have been modded some way.

Had a 91 LX 5.0L and an 82 RS Capri with a 5.0L. Miss the 91 like gangbusters. Compared to today's cars it was cheaply built but it was cheap to own and fun as hell to drive. The 82 was more of a beater car with the arcaic 4 speed standard. Got rid of the 82 and don't miss it one bit.
Someday I will have another Mustang in the driveway.

Had a 79 that was originally a 4 cylinder that had a nice hole in the block. Swapped that for a 351W from a 75 Granada. Burnt he tires all day, but didn't hook worth a damn, but sure made for a wild ride! I put that together before the conversion parts were readily available, and was also be fore the info was readily available, as the net was not generally available to the public as yet.

I've always said my 92 is as reliable as a brick through a plate glass window. Nearly every time I drive it, somebody ask if I'll sell it & the answer is no. If pressed, I say sure... "25K & its yours..." When the sputtering, spitting & the "you're crazy" admonishments are over, I simply say, "Told you I didn't want to sell it"...
