I need some help

I have a 1970 F100 Ranger. I am installing a new fuel pump, water pump, oil pressure sending unit and thermostat for the water pump. Are there any special considerations for priming the fuel lines and installing the new gear.

No. Just be sure to bleed off the air from the cooling system.

If an air pocket gets trapped under the thermostat it will not get hot enough to open at the right time. Air does not conduct heat very well to open the stat until it builds up a lot of heat and pressure, the engine temp may go all the way to the high temp point before is finally opens. So this could do damage to some motors. So most thermostats for today's vehicles have a air bleed hole in them. I like to run a 180* rated stat and could not find one with the bleeder. So I drilled a little 1/32-1/16 hole allows the air to escape. Some stat size 53mm come with it pre drilled but their 195* temp which was the one, I had in a 90 bronco ll 2.9 motor. Just put the hole at 12 O:clock some rtv around the seat to hold it in place before installing it. Or you can pull off a heat hose to help bleed the air out of it. If you have a block flusher installed in the heat hose for back flushing just remove the hose cap to let air out..Works for me. my 2cents
