Hello fellas, this is Militos, I lost my password, I not longer have acces to my previus email,,and etc, etc, so I decided to change my NIck name and make me another account. (Thanks to the Administrators).

Recently I found this one truck for sale some where and I purchased the truck because to me it was a great potential ofr restauration.

The Body is all stright, some surface rust only,,nothing bad at all.

The drive train,,some one already beat me with a engine swap, they installed something that looks like a 429 engine on it, the transmission looks very much stock automatick.

The truck wont run, I inspected and it's missing the Coil (ha,ha no wonder ), so a new coil will be installed and I notices lot's of play on the Water pump shaft,,so I got a new water pump, new thermostat and installed both.

This truck did belong to some dude up in Walnut creek, he dide a lots of little additions to the truck, like gauges adn bunch of stuff, to measure Vaccum, measure gas miles/gal., whires here and ther,,,the truck has lights all over the body,,like a Crhismas tree.

well long story shorty: I'm geting ready to fire that truck may be this weekend and will be sharing pictures with all of you as soon as I get it running and take it to the local coin in car wahs because this truck has mor edust than the Caows from Coalinga!!

Coalinga was very famous for dust at one time, but it had nothing to do with cows.

The town was founded by the SPRR, its original name was Coaling Station A.

Citizens later removed Station, uncapitalized the a and pushed it up against the g.

It seems awkward, but whenever you "insert a picture" to one of these threads, the forum is looking for the picture somewhere on the web (which is always available) rather than from somewhere on your hard drive (which isn't always available).

Mr. number Dummy, what do you Mean Coalinga has nothing to do with Caows?? every time I drive by that place the Caows are really dusty.

What I said was that Coalinga was once very famous for dust, cows had nothing to do with it.

Coalinga was originally called Coaling Station A, where SPRR locomotives stopped to take on coal, the highly explosive coal dust flew in every direction.

Back then locomotives were steam powered, used coal to fire their boilers. By 1950, more locomotives had diesel engines than steam engines. Diesels were first installed in the mid 1930's.

And, I doubt back then, there were any cows, a long time pal was born in Coalinga in 1928. When we visited the town, he said...when I lived here, there wasn't much of anything, except sage brush.

A week later, the town was almost completely destroyed by an earthquake.

Hello sports fans.

well finally I got the truck running after dumping the stock 4 barrel carb because it was so solid,,nothing was moving on it,,so I got a used one form some one with a 68 cougar,,it's a mechanicla seocndaries,,but ,,who cares for now I just want to see the darn truck engine start..

I bypassed the gas tank line,
lets see I installed a brand new fuel pump, and conected the pump to my gasoline little emergency 5Gal. tank, than I added a good 5mL. of juice to the carb,,and RAQNNNN!!! the engine started real loud trowing dust and bunch of flying who knows what...I had to wear my safety glasses for this,,while I help the trottle mechanism to kkeep the truck runnnig at around 2000 RPM to get a good lubircation on it.

I noticed my exhaust manyfolrds are craked and will need to replace them,,but the truck is running,,ha,ha,ha.

probably in few weeks I get exhaust manifolds or ...make a desicion on the replacing of that big engine ,,for a fresh 302 and a OD auto trans,,that I have from previus projects...until than.

Congrats on making some noise with it. If you plan on ever hauling or towing with it keep the big block. Just my opinion.

 

Hello Cobra Guy,, I onestly don't think I 'll be hauling or towing anything,,ecept for my slf mi wife and maybe one of my kids...This truck will have a relax life with me....just for cruisisng..I do lot's of hiway driving doh,,like back and fourt to L.A., and Salt Lake city Huta...that's the reason I want to install the OD trans. and the 302 should be suficient to haul this little truck..I'll be installing a 4Barel good vaccum seconndaries into this 302 and headers,,,so I can get a little punch out of the 302, nothing crazy,,just adecuate.

Get some 3.00-1 gears in the rear and you'll be fine then. I had a 302 with a C6 in my uni and it was always thirsty.

 

Señor Cobra,,dide you mean for me to change the rear end gear, in stead of do all of my engine and AOD conversion??

I havent even drove this truck on the hiwg way to make that desision,, even if it cruises at 2800RPM at 85 miles per hour,,I still have to do the engine trans exchange ( me,,to crazy).

I onestly think that that engine is to old of a design and by reading the specs about the 352 crack shaft,,..it makes me go and run for my 302.

to Old, to big, innecesary for my kind of driving...(personal driving conditions).
