I don't know what your travel plans are but there is rain on the coast from Pensacola West to the La.-Ms. state line. We expect it to last all day.

Got in yesterday tween 3 & 4. Got soaked a few times going & coming back. I was the guy driving the 03' as usual. Terri offered the 11', but I said no. The 11' says it averaged 26.5 per its economy read-out and that was averaging about 74-75 with occasional blast up to just under 80. And we were getting blown past most all the time. Seems the entire state of Texas & Arkansas went to Florida this week & decided to go home yesterday.

Really pleased with our purchase. Been web shopping and local looking for a few weeks now. The 11 is an XLT vs a Limited. (didn't want leather, the shiny black console & trim that shows every speck of dust & fingerprints) Did want Sync and if possible, the Sun & Sync package. (which we eventually got) KBB on it is just a hair under 22K & we got it for 18K. One of the pluses of where we got it was NO dealer fees. Those nasty things never advertised or included, but always there. Just $20 for the FL temp tag. The people there were really good too. Never once in my dealings on phone or in person was the phrase "I've got to ask my manager" uttered.... compared to the other places I talked to. They even called their service manager back in (we got there after 5 on a Friday) so I could have it put up on a rack to look over the underside as long as I felt like it. He was very nice & knowledgeable and even loaned me a hi power LED flash light when mine took a dump. The shop facilities were multi-bay & first rate clean & well ordered.

The car itself is a Enterprise rental that spent its working career in the Orlando area. Pretty clean save for a bunch of scratches on the console & only one or two small smudges on the caramel cloth weave carpet and seats. The only issue I had was no mats (I know rentals are so equipped & these were missing) and the chief sales guy sent another out to a Limited to ****** its mats (same color carpet) for ours. (While we were doing something else & without asking.) The paint is flawless. I so far haven't found a chip, scratch, door ding, dent or overspray yet.

Bryan, I never noticed that flaw in the ad. I've read so dang many that I just scanned for the key info & pics. So many didn't even list the Sync option so that I just looked at pics of the steering wheel for the phone icon & for the V-6 I just looked at the rear hatch for the Flex-Fuel badge since 4's don't support it on Escapes. The folks at Tomlinson were so professional in all other aspects, that I just have to chalk it up to a bad cut & paste job by whoever does their web work. And their home web site is huge, listing their entire inventory.

My only hope is that it remains as much a trooper as the 03' and its not jinixed from being bought on the 13th...

Last week it was $498.98 at Walmart.
It was marked down to $348.98 Site to Store.
I went to the store to use the new pay at the store and have it shipped in to the store.
The associate from the electronics department remembered that he had taken one off display and placed it into the storage cabinet.
We got it out and took a look at it.
It is in terrific condition.
The only problem was that the paperwork was missing.
I spoke with the assistant mgr. and he knocked another $50.00 off the price.

Got the car mostly packed up with all our stuff. I think I've ran up and down about six flights of stairs today to get this all done, but it is done now and one step out of the way.

I checked the fluids in the TC while I was moving everything and it seems like it is good to go. Got a few spare quarts of essential fluids, and a gallon of coolant just in case. Tomorrow brings the final load-up, and roll out. I hope everything goes as smoothly going home as it did coming up... the last thing I need right now is an 11th-hour disaster.

Y'all take it easy, I'll check in when I can.

Dang its hot.

Ordered a a few accessories for the new ride & picked up a couple items to start prepping the old for sale. I sure hate to sell that lil' ute, but the resale prices for them are insane in this market & we just can't keep another.

Hope all are well.

 

Pat and I will take the RV and a couple of Grandsons to Lake Lincoln tomorrow for a few days. All of my fishing gear is at the Cabin, so we will just hang out and watch the kids.

I do not believe that I even have an unread magazine to carry.

 

Bunch of junk today... Most not worth detailing. Did however get reservations in Gulfport for Fri-Sat during Crusin' so we'll be there.
