Port Lavaca/Corpus Christie question

My wife and sister-in-law are planning a little mini vacation in the area. Trying to do it on as much of a budget as possible. Any recommendations of places to avoid/stay?

Thanks
Dustin

I used to work as an electrician on the Naval Base down in Corpus. I stayed on the first island just south of Corpus in the condo's behind Farrahs, a well known bar. There's a three mile bridge connecting that island to the main land.

The main area of Corpus was nice, clean and organized but the outskirts are simply horrible. The beaches are filthy, full of Mexican gangsters and drugs. I kid you not. And right before I left the water was infested with flesh eating bacteria. That was maybe four or five years ago.

I wouldn't even fly over Corpus.

I would advise you do a lot of research before you go. That's about all of the advice I have. Good luck.

I appreciate the insight. the preliminary research I have done indicated it wasn't the nicest of areas.

She may end up hanging out in San Antonio, and the like... Thoughts on places to avoid in that general section of texas?

I hear good things about Port Aranasa, which is not too far from there.

I live in corpus and sort of agree with Texas Chain Ring.

If you know the town- there are some great places. Port A is fun. The Island is the best part of Corpus.

I met my wife at Farrahs! No Kidding.
