1999 Navi 5.4L SOHC swap to any 5.4l SOHC?

Hi Guys, New to the forum! I have purchased a 1999 Navigator with a blown motor. When I bought it I was lead to believe that it had the DOHC, so I parked it and planned on just rebuilding the motor when I had a chance. I never opened the hood on it, until today! I got the motor out and it's a SOHC motor!

So my question is, will any 5.4L SOHC from a F150 or Expedition work in this truck? That would be way cheaper than rebuilding this thing!

Thanks for the reply! Anything special that I should look for? Do I have to change the wiring harness or exhaust manifolds?

Use the Navigator harness and manifolds. It should be an easy swap.

I'd do the DOHC 5.4 if it was mine. I have been shopping for one, just gotta convince the wife I need a new engine when there is nothing wrong with mine. I might have to do some self inflicted sabotage!

There was a nice one at the local P-n-P, it had a bad suspension, the engine and trans smelled fine. Complete engine assembly costs about $200.00 including the core charge. It was an A4WD drive train. Everything should fit just fine. My only real concern would be the ECM and wiring for the cops as the original engine is coil packs. As both engines fire 2 cylinders at a time that should be a piece of cake.
