Rear Main Seal Leaking

I noticed a small oil path, towards the rear bottom driver's side of the engine at about 15,000 miles, very small trail of oil.
Now at 25,000 miles the oil has run down to the oil pan and has grown into alot wider path.
No drips yet but I figured it was time to get her checked out.

The dealership put a dye in the oil last week and I came back today. They are telling me it is leaking at the Rear Main Seal. Have to remove the transmission to get to it....

Anyone else had the rear main seal leak ??
Wondering if this is common or just a odd leak that shouldn't show up again....

I think I got the same leak going on with the f350 I j49ust purchased used with 28k on it. Noticed the oil pan (grid and bolts) were saturated with tranny fluid, but has yet to drip on the ground. The bolts that secure the poly oil pan to the block have red tranny fluid pooling on the bolt heads. Also the grid like honeycomb on the bottom of the oil pan is damp with tranny fluid.

I'm not exactly happy / overjoyed that I have to take it in a second time, but the dealer better make it right.

Any recommendations of where to take it in the St. Louis, MO area? I've been to Lou Fusz once and they really pushed a fuel filter change which I kindly rejected @ $ 225. I had no clue, but got home and looked on here and ended up doing it myself in 30 min for under $50, so I'm hesitant to take it back there.

Thoughts?

Transmission fluid level reads FULL; so it's a SLOW leak i'm guessing as I purchased the truck on 6/22 and have put about 800 miles on it.

Let me know your thoughts!

Could be frt pump seal, or simpley a frt pump bolt may not be tight enough. Time for dealer before you run outta warranty, they have dye as well they can add to help find it,after the trans is pulled.

My dealer went through the same thing and it actually end up being the turbo housing cracked. They could not see it until the transmission was out of the way.

2011 6.7 Oil Leak...

I took it in had the dye check done and the dealer determined it was the upper oil pan leaking. I had them fix it cause it was not getting any better. Long story short - They had the truck for 26 days!!! I was furious and Ford said it is what it is, it takes allot of time... I was given a rental and it did not leak after it was done...just be prepared for the long haul...

Why so long? Were the parts they needed on back-order?

Standard excuses..

Dealer ordered wrong parts, Ford sent wrong parts, parts were broken on arrival, shipper delays. I think it takes most of the day to pull the tranny...
