The engine will turn over only if the button is engaged, doesn't matter if the key is in the on position, or if it's turned all the way back. So I can turn the key into the on position, ten hit the button to turn it over, if the button is engaged before the key is turned, it will turn over like a regular vehicle... I pulled wires and checked spark, I have spark from all wires and to the cap, but it's not bright white/blue, it's golden in color, so I'm assuming I should get the ignition checked out? Thanks again for all the help guys!

So you're getting spark regardless of key position?

The spark should be blue/white - at least while starting as the ballast resistor is bypassed then and you should have 12 volts to the coil. I would have the module checked, and if it is good maybe replace the coil. But, do check that you have 12 volts to the coil while cranking.

His key is never in the START position when using an add-on button, so the coil never gets 12V.

Assuming the button isn't simulating the start circuit. Which begs the question of how to stop it, but we need to get it running before we worry about that.

I'm assuming the button takes 12V and feeds it to the small terminal on the solenoid, nothing more.

Haven't looked at the wiring diagram, but if it feeds to that terminal via the wiring harness wouldn't it also feed to the coil? On the other hand, if they bypassed the truck's wiring, pulled the truck's connector, and put 12v only to the solenoid it would only turn the starter and engine - so you'd be right.

Here we are, assuming. Why is it we are doing that? Because Matty hasn't checked the wiring out.

I'd fix that wiring before going any further, that way we know what we're dealing with...
