Dead injector after new harness
Well the kids Excursion has a CEL from a bad glow plug. I pulled it apart today and found a burnt pin in the valve cover gasket and the wiring harness cracked at the 9 pin connector which likely caused the burnt pin from a bad connection.
Since it's Sunday, my options were kind of limited so I let my fingers do the walking and found a Dorman valve cover gasket / wiring harness kit at Oreilly's. Got home and waited on the dish network guy to give us new stuff for our upgrade that has DVR's and stuff now. When he left, I put it all back together and fired it up and the truck was missing on one cylinder.
Ohmed out the connections and the #6 cylinder read like it was a closed loop. I got 0.4 ohms checking the wiring from outside the gasket. I ohmed the wiring from the injector connector back to the valve cover and things checked out, so no shorted wires. I swapped injector solenoids and ohmed them again and the same cylinder is still dead. That means the problem is in the wiring, not the injector.
The only thing I can figure is they got the wires crossed when they built the harness since you can ohm out the wire from the valve cover gasket to the injector plug and everything checks out.
I'll get a new gasket / harness tomorrow and see if that fixes it. I'm I missing anything else?
