460 efi build complete (thanks scotty@rRHP)

I am submitting this post post to give thanks to this site for its wealth of information and a special thanks to Scott (the mad porter) at reincarnation auto. Scott delivered quality products and most importanly without going into details showed himself to be the most honest and fair business man I have ever dealt with.

My truck is a 96 f350 4x4 reg cab long bed 37'' tires with 6" lift. I bought it after it was totaled by a previous owner. Like many folks I was looking for more power/torque out of it. So i gave the whole thing a 100% restoration that took 16 months or so. I took it down to bare frame rails. I gave everything on the underside a sand blast and 3 coats of POR15. The tranny is fresh as well as all the other moving parts under there.

I had Scotty send me ported and milled F3TE heads, ported intake and a cam and lifters set. I built the short block back as stock all new.
I added the following. BBK 1707 throttle body, BBK 1617 fuel pressure reg. set at 41PSI. K&N air filter, cut the air horns, L&L headers into 3.5 inlet/outlet magnaflow muffler. 180 deg. thermostat. I kept the O2 sensor and EGR. I removed smog pump and cat. Timing is set at 14 BTDC.

I really dont have have words for the difference in how this engine runs and the power it makes. I can say it will lay a 100 feet of rubber on the pavement from both 37 inch tires if I want it to. With this combination I did not need to add any chips and I am not having any computer problems setting off codes.

Anyway I just wanted to thank the site and its members for some mostly good and a little not so good advice. And share what I did with my engine from the ideas I found here. I put a couple pics in the album section 96f350

I used a BBK 1707. The description is for a 94-97 mustang but it bolts right on the fuel rail in place of the factory regulator.

He is THE MAN when it comes to EFI 460's (or any 460 for that matter) I have learned so much just reading his posts and he hardly ever gives a one line reply to questions. I plan on having him do the head/intake work on mine if and when I ever get there.

Do you mind me asking where he is located? I am in the middle of doing this to my 96 and sure would like to get my heads and intake done by someone who is familiar with these motors.

I am also interested in the cam choice. Also, are you running speed density or mass air?
