My new 1990 F-150

Hey guys, first post on this forum but I just wanted to share the truck that I just bought.

It was originally a US Navy Pickup and was then had two owners before I got it. I had an old Sea Cadet friend that wanted to get rid of his truck so he went ahead and sold it to me for $400.

Here are some pictures of it:

Before I got it:

Driver side turn signal smashed

Fairly clean look from the passenger side

It didn't have a tailgate.

Missing the windshield wiper ****, passenger door arm rest/handle, and Radio Bezel

It did have brand new front tires but miss matched back tires.

None of this was a big thing to me because you expect some wear and tear for a truck that's 22 years old and only $400.

Newest additions:

Swapped out both turn signals to the Chrome ones

Added a truck box, Got rid of all of the stickers except for the original navy "14" and bought a tailgate.
Turn signals together were $20 at U pull & U pay
Tailgate was $33 at U pull & U pay

Cool. Good buy.
Being a fleet type vehicle I'm assuming it's a 300-6
What are your plans. Give us some more details of the truck.
keep posting. We all love to read and give advise.

Yes it is a 300-6 Automatic 2WD. Its an F-150 Custom. I bought this as a "beater" truck. In the near future it will get a fresh coat of a paint, heavy duty front and rear bumpers. I'm also in the process of installing my HAM equipment, CB equipment and I do want to throw a 15" subwoofer in there too. Primary use will be for during the hurricane seasons when Skywarn and ARES are activated. You never know what you're going to need to do. It may get a small lift for light offroading but not too sure yet.

Nice buy! You have the right idea about replacing things from the JY, I'm sure you can find all the ***** and such you need. Might want to see if you can find a bedliner while you are at the JY as well. Heck of a lot easier to move things in and out of the truck with a bedliner. Good score and keep us posted on your progress. You might want to search the site for things like tune up (new plugs, wires, ignition coil) If the truck has over 100k on it (or even just because it is an older model year) it is recommended maintenance and can make a difference. Good luck and welcome to FTE!

Sweet deal. I had an '89 F150 with locking pliers for a wiper-****. As far as I can tell from the pics it's looks straight as an arrow and rust-free. Very nice.

Well I've done several things to the truck since my last post. I got a new radio bezel because when I bought the truck it didn't have one. I put a little bit heavier duty springs in the front for the new front bumper that was going in. I got a passenger door cushion.
I also did a flat black rattle can job just to keep the rust off for the moment.

I also put on towing mirrors off of an F-350.

New bumper that is in place. I'm probably going to add to the bumper cause I'm not 100% satisfied with how wide it is.

If anyone needs stock mirrors or front bumper off of this truck and is around central florida, Let me know. I got them up for sale.

And now the truck sits, Driving around at 5am and it randomly turned off. It turns over but won't start. Already tried swapping in a new coil and that didn't work. So it narrows down the the module or distributor pickup. It'll run again once I have money to fix that!

More work coming down the road once its running again. Sights on swapping in 4x4, New rims, bigger tires, lift, and either a straight pipe or glasspack.
