Electric Fan conversion
I've read almost every post I can find about the issue and I think I understand the pros/cons.
Since I do not do any heavy towing, only a 30' toy hauler I believe electric fans will work for me. I'm looking for the extra power along with better fuel mileage.
Does anyone make a kit for the 2003 6.0 with electric fan clutch? Thoughts please...
When I bought my truck the electric wires had all been caught by the fan, so I put an OEM on myself and it ran non stop for several days, then after some squeling noise which sounded like a metal clutch slipping the fan operated normally for only a couple of days. Now I'm getting code PO528 and PO480. I was able to clear with my CTS but they came back and the fan is not coming on at all.

An electric fan will not give you more power, or better fuel mileage.
When are people going to realize that the fan clutch on the 6.0L is computer controlled. When the computer commands it to 0%, any drag on the engine is due to nothing more than a little friction in the clutch and is probably not measurable.
The electric fan costs you a bunch of money in parts and engineering, gains you absolutely nothing, and may cost you an overheated and potentially damaged engine.
Do you see an upside to any of this?

I have to say that I also am not a fan of the electric fans. They have not performed well for me in several applications and I went back to mechanical fans every time. I have to agree with all of the above statements.
I also have the Edge CTS and I do get the P0528 a few times a month. The more I play the more it comes on. As far as I can tell though, the fan is working so I just let it be.

I guess I installed a defective fan clutch. Like I stated in my original post when I first installed the fan stayed on 100% all the time for several days then it appeared to start working correctly. When the temp reached 210 it engauged and drop the temp to 190ish. But that only lasted a couple of days now the temp will reach 225 and 227 a couple of times and the fan doesn't seem to be kicking in. I'll request another part and see if I just got a lemon.

I'm in the no electric fan camp also, btw.

04 6.0L PSD radiator fan stuck on!
alright I gotta a little problem but its prob simple and maybe im over thinking it. But my fan is stuck on it happened when I was heading south on I-5 when it was about 95- 100 degrees out. I manually turned the fan with my key off there is a little resistance but will spin so I dont think its my clutch i pulled the plug for the fan and started the truck and the dam thing stayed on!? is there a test for the fan clutch or is it just the clutch and I dont realize it?

I would also point out that I haven't seen anyone offering a fan this big, with this kind of blade pitch, controlled by the PCM, and capable of turning 4,000rpm. Look at this pic for a minute, you don't notice leaning over the fender so much but when you see it like this..it almost spans the frame rails. This thing is ginormous!

I would also point out that I haven't seen anyone offering a fan this big, with this kind of blade pitch, controlled by the PCM, and capable of turning 4,000rpm. Look at this pic for a minute, you don't notice leaning over the fender so much but when you see it like this..it almost spans the frame rails. This thing is ginormous!
That is a GREAT picture - sort of looks like a jet engine turbine...
