Possibly poor connections at the plug end could cause the same issue.
Bad primary wires would not cause over voltage.

Over voltage would only come from a bad alternator or regulator as stated above by "Slip ford man".

Fordenthusiasts,
Do you leave the Ignition switch in the run position with the engine not running to listen to the radio or for any other reason?
If so this may over heat the coil and burn it up.
I seen a coil burn up once from the key being left on. It was on a 1938 Chevrolet back in 1952. All the goo ran out of it and it was smoking.

Power at both the small wires with the key on means you do have continuity through the coil and the plug is making contact with the coil on both sides.

Whenever I listen to music I always use the accessory position. Plug wires are also good, they are Ford Racing plug wires that are 1 yr old.

I suppose it could be possible that I have extremely bad luck and have just received several dud coils.

Anyone have any recommendations on good reliable coils.
