Should I jump on a mint 7.3 for 2900$ ?

So I found this ad, mint 1999 7.3 with 140,000 km's on it.
Tuner, good tires, no problems, no rust, no scratches, shedded.
2999.00$

I emailed back, and asked what was wrong with it, at that price i assumed something would be broken.
She said its in mint condition, her name on it, 2950$, come pick it up.

Could this be a scam?
I've never bought a vehicle while I thought something fishy could be going on.....

In manitoba.
I'm trying to get the bank to tell me if theres any liens on it.
The pictures make me think the body alone would be worth 3000$

If there was debt on it, and I bought it, could they reposess the whole thing, or just prevent registration?

It looked so good in the pictures, I thought there was a typo, and it was 29,999$

i would think if you buy it and get signatures... the truck should be yours free and clear. just make sure you can get the clear title before money exchanges hands.

She said I was the only one who inquired, I guess everyone thought it was 30,000$ with a typo, as I did, but I messaged anyways.
Either that or its a scam and I'm about to take it in the tail pipe lol.

Seriously though, it looks brnad new.

I don't think it works like that, my 08 black truck, I could sell it to you right now, using the back of my insurance in the glovebox, and when I got the loan for it, they put a lien on it, so they could go after you.

The ad was up long enough to have expired, yet nobody else responded to it? That's a load of crap and it definitely sounds like a scam. Think about it, at that price wouldn't it make sense that people would at least inquire if the price was correct?

If you decide to pursue this, make sure you can actually put your hands on the truck, drive it, verify the VIN in more places than just the tag on the dashboard, and check that there are no liens before giving this person so much as a dime. It would also be wise to meet in a public place to do this and have someone else with you.

^^^^Everything he said.

This is one of those "it sounds too good to be true" ads to me. Proceed with caution.

If she says she is selling it cause her husband is overseas or is leaving soon and the transaction involves an escrow service or similar...it is a scam. If you cant actually go to her place and see the truck in person id be very cautious.

I think it has something to do with a break up or something, I don't know exact details.
It's not a far away deal, I'd drive and pick it up, I just wonder about a lien mostly at this point.

I don't really feel like getting home and having to instantly part it out to recover my cash, thats all.

I've seen several varieties of scams, and this one sounds like one. If her replies include a lot of repeated information from the initial response, walk away fast.

If it's not a scam, I would be weary, then go ahead. But, check the vin, license and all that stuff. I don't know how that sort of thing works in Canada, as I live here in the US, but I would do a lot of checking. If it were me I would check it out and see why she is selling it so low. If it all check out as kosher, then I would offer her a little bit more, just for my own well being, in my sometimes humble opinion. Which dollar is worth more, Canada or US? They were pretty close when I was up there in 05, but the economy has been week lately.
