I have an old Dana 60 with limited slip differential. The plates are probably worn out, and have never been rebuilt.

Out of curiosity, can a different gear oil be used to provide a temporary improvement? I'm sure it has had ten different, and probably wrong, oils used over the last 40 years.

My only real interest is improving the cold-weather ice and snow traction. It is two-wheel drive.
