1/4 mile performance

Anyone have a timeslip on a new 6.2 yet? I'm planning on Saturday, June 9th to see what my new F-350 CC will do in the 1/4 and was curious as to what others might have already run. I have 3.73s and a completely stock truck so I don't expect blistering times, but it would be nice if I could outrun the '10 Mustang GT my wife stole from me that went 13.86 @ 100. I'll be happy if I can get a 15 out of it.

Rock Falls Raceway, Eau Claire WI

Rock Falls Raceway

Another forum member will be running his studded '07 F250 6.oh-no the same day. Should be fun.

Well, I haven't seen times, but I can tell you that if your in regular shift mode, when it shifts from 1st to 2nd, the rpm's fall so far back, your way out of your powerband. You won't run a good time at all. Truck loses everything right there. I would recommend manually shifting it, and definatley do not shift it off the rev limiter. Hit the button. Like as soon as it comes past 5k or so. It will end up shifting at 5500 or so. You might need to play with that receipe

I ran mine and it went 15.18@92mph. I had massive wheel hop and spin off the line. I ran it in tow/haul*mode and it seemed to shift right close to 6K RPM's.

Thanks for the info. Looks like I will be happy to put it anywhere in the 15s. I hope I don't get the wheel hop so bad, but all of my other trucks did it too. I launched those in 4x4 and switched back to 2wd about the 60' mark.

That's an F150 though, accroding to your SIG. Right.

I did some experimenting this morning. My take is hit the button when you see 5200-5400 or so. Closer to 5200 because I'm betting the peak power band is not 6000.

Check dyno sheets on 5-stars website maybe.

Yup, I saw that his is a 150, so I'm hampered by a ton (literally) of extra weight and realize I won't run even close to low 15s. I've been throwing chit down dragstrips for a long time and it usually takes me 6-8 runs to get the most out of it, so I hear what you're saying and agree. It took me 3 runs in my Rustang to realize what felt like a slow shifting trans was actually me just barely touching the rev limiter.

Stay tuned, I'll post up my slip tomorrow night along with a corrected number for comparison. I'll see if I can get the truck weighed also.

The timing systems won't give times like that. The usual incrementals are:

-Reaction time
-60' time
-330' time
-660' time and mph (1/8 mile)
-1000' time (sometimes mph too)
-1320' time and mph

Here's the slip from my Mustang ;

I meant on the road, not at the strip

I wrote a small program that takes timestamps and road speed readings from my SCT X3 datalogger and spits out 0-60 times. Last time I checked my '01 V10, I was getting 9 seconds flat. But that was before the hedman headers and a few other little things that hurt performance.

Something I've definitely been wanting to do. The last time I tried, my tablet flew off my dash and landed on the back floor. No flat roads out here to test it on but I'll see if I can come up with something soon. I'll be using my Torque app with the OBD connection so it should be pretty accurate.

There's a thread goin' on in the 6.7 forum, Darren32's tuned 6.7 hit 6 sec's with the 0-60. Screenshot is in the "Burnout" thread.

My brother in law has a 6.4 liter. Used to have a stock tranny, with a 500hp race tune. The truck was beyond nuts. It would literally spin around if you floored it at low speeds.

He used to launch the truck to the floor with the brake on, like 50psi, in 4WD and he did that for years with no problems at all.

The 6.7 supposedly has a better tranny that the 6.4, right? I would guess so. Those tranny's can take a POUNDING......

Well, if it can stand up to me banging it into 2nd gear full throttle at ~5800 rpm while pulling 16,500 lbs uphill, that seems to be a pretty good indicator.
