Custom cab is a trim package, Sweep speedo, chrome trim on the outside, chrome grill and some other trim pieces. Or someone put the emblems on there. And sense the headliner was a cardboard type of material, it may be just gone.

I think they also had 2 sun visors. Non custom cabs could have 2 visors too though. They also had oil and amp gauges. Non custom cabs could have those too.

Front windshield chrome trim; dash trim chrome & headliner and door panel chrome trim.
vin tag (warranty tag) will state something like 81B etc as well I believe.
Post your vin data and someone will decipher it to determine this; if the door hasn't been swapped out.

vin tag (warranty tag) will state something like 81B (1963 only).
1963: The BODY code stamped on the Warranty Plate will be either 81A (Standard Cab) or 81B (Custom Cab), and that's it, does not decode to the type/color of seat upholstery.

1964: The BODY code stamped on the Warranty Plate, once decoded, will determine if the truck is a Standard or Custom Cab, also decodes to the type/color of seat upholstery.

1965/66: The BODY code stamped on the Warranty Plate, once decoded, will determine if the truck is a Standard or Custom Cab, or a Ranger. Also decodes to the type/color of seat upholstery.

1965/66 F100/250 Custom Cab package included: Anodized (not chrome) aluminum grille, foam rubber seat cushion, R/L padded sunvisors, left door armrest, perforated headliner, padded dash (could be deleted), R/L door trim panels.

Chrome horn ring (1965/66 F100/250 2WD, 1966 F100 4WD), chrome instrument cluster bezel, except 1965/66 F100/250 2WD's w/sweep speed plastic chrome cluster bezel, high & low pitched horns.

Custom Cab nameplates on the doors, unless the optional door handle guards were ordered. Anodized aluminum tail lamp bezels (Styleside only).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chrome front bumper & Styleside pickup only anodized aluminum side mouldings were optional, did not come with any package.

Optional on all: AM radio (no FM, no cassette available), deluxe or economy heater, tinted windshield only, or all glass tinted, 4WD (manual trans only), power steering (1966 F100/250 2WD only), F100 16 or 17" wheels, F250 17 or 19" wheels, wheel covers (1966 F100 2WD/4WD only), power drum brakes, seat belts (lap only), outside mirrors, chrome or painted rear bumpers (painted only on Flaresides), spare wheel and the tire (!), tool compartment (F100/250 Stylesides only, except "wrong bed"), Limited Slip, 4 speed manual, 3 speed overdrive, A/T, oil & amp gauges (except Camper Specials, came w/the package), factory installed flat or stake bed, 70 or 80 amp battery (70 amp std on C/S's), windshield washers.

There were a gazillion accessories listed in acessories brochures. Like "hang-on" A/C, tow hooks, R & L spotlights, driving and fog lamps, Styleside pickup bed steps, colored vinyl floormats (protected the rubber floormats!).

Some people make the mistake of assuming these trucks were equipped like much newer trucks...nothing could be further from the truth.

The basic truck was a 'stripper' 2WD Standard Cab Cab & Chassis (no pickup bed) w/a 240 I-6 & 3 on the tree. MSRP was about 1700 bucks.

My CC has two armrests but none of the other optional flashy stuff like a chrome bumper.
Would the door insert work without the armrest? Mine have disintegrated so I can't say they were made to accomodate armrests. Only one horn on mine though; no holes for it either.

The door insert...upper plastic door panel I think would work w/o armrests...but IMO it would look incomplete w/o armrests. They never came originally with the door panels and w/o one or both armrests.

Bill did say

Chrome front bumper & Styleside pickup only anodized aluminum side mouldings were optional, did not come with any package.

You can see that Custom Cab was a separate line item from the Chrome Front Bumper on my invoice (window sticker) at this link.

My white 1966 F250 4WD is Custom Cab but did not come with padded sunvisors or R/L door trim panels.

My red 1966 F250 4WD did not come with R/L door trim panels.

I wonder if 4WD trucks were dealt with differently?

Both of my 4wd trucks are the same. Im using different doors on my 65 so it has been updated to the custome door trim and inserts. But when I got both trucks there were no provisions for the trim or inserts. And both are cc trucks.

Edit:
Neither of my 4wd trucks had side trim. They did have sun visors on both sides, arm rests on both sides, aluminum grilles, stainless windshield trim and chrome bumpers. Both had 6 digit DSOs so where ordered not bought off of the lot and it appears any of the equipment that a DSO would indicate should be there is not I dont see anything out of the ordinary on both trucks unless the CC trim package on the 4wd was an order option.

Did CUstom Cab's have chrome on the drip rails? Or did any slicks have chrome on the drip rails? I have seen a couple with chrome on the drip rails but haven't found a supplier that sells it.

No "chrome" mouldings available on drip rails until 1967, and it isn't chrome, it's stainless steel.

Both of my trucks are CC but my red truck is only a two digit DSO.

My white truck is 6 digit DSO. I have the build sheet and window sticker. Other than possibly special tires there's not much else that jumps out as a cause for being special order. Maybe the overload springs??
