Happy June! The '65 is running fine with the new Edelbrock, but it ate up a 3 month old Accel coil. Now I'm swapping the coil out of the 1966 Volvo 122s until I figure out why it ate the coil and if I can talk Accel into replacing the coil I just bought a few months ago. Afraid to put another $50 towards a coil if it is just gonna fry. Anyone else ever smoke a relatively new coil? What should I be looking for on this, voltage spikes, or is there supposed to be a ballast resistor? Never had issues with the last coil, needed one for the Volvo so I put the new one in the truck and the old one in the Volvo. I have heard that some of the Accel stuff is more or less a cheap Chinese built version of the Mallory line to sell at a more competitive price point?
No taking most of the day off. We got to later turn in some scrap metal and then check out a mobile home but thats it. I accidently slept in today bedcause my neck is hurting for quite a while. My dad thinks it might be what he has in his neck which would require surgery.

BASS, sounds like you just got a faulty coil
was the accel a upgrade or to replace a old one ?
You cant miss with a Mallory so if ACCEL dont replace it you
should bite the bullet and go with the Mallory
My 2 cents
Good luck

More or less an upgrade. Sometimes I have a habit of looking too far into things trying to find the "magic bullet" conspiracy theory. Your probably right, some times you just get a bad part.
