1966 F250 Seat cover

Hi yall,
Just sharing a new seat cover I received from Distinctive Industries

It is a new line they are developing to simulate the welts and embossed logo.

This is two-tone ivy gold.

It looks nice, but it's not correct (as original). Ivy gold was not offered for trucks until 1969.

smsautofabrics.com (located in Canby OR), has the correct material. Don (camperspecial65) has been there, can tell you all about it.

I simply do not understand why a company would go thru that much effort and not make it at least close to the original design. The smooth vinyl just looks silly without any pattern to it. I cannot imagine that much in price difference.

As ND said SMS does a wonderful job:

IMO if they at least had some type pattern it would look much better than just all smooth material. Looks like a JC Whitney seat cover

Randy the seat depicted is the earlier 61 to 64 seat. The pattern you picture is 65 66 not available in the early trucks.

That's wonderful, Dave, just wonderful...but the OP has a 1966 F250, not a 1961/64 anything. If it's a Custom Cab, the pattern would match Randy's.

And, what truck before 1969 came with ivy gold seat upholstery? None.

What is the OP's trucks BODY code? If it's related to green, it's either 381: medium green crush vinyl, medium green wicker pattern vinyl-Standard Cab, or...

C81: medium green crush vinyl, medium green cody pattern woven plastic-Custom Cab.

I'll betcha if the OP ordered green seat material, this is what he got, cuz the source didn't have the correct material, or may have been clueless as to what it was.

The OP may also be clueless, because the original seat material may have been long gone, replaced by lawd only knows what else.

OP shoulda had his BODY code decoded before he bought this jazz. To me, it looks like the same el cheapo material you can get in TJ, south of the border, down Mehico way.

And btw Dave, you never responded to my recent F100 Western Nats email. Said I was available for scrounging before June 23rd, but was not going to the show cuz the Basset Hound Club GTG is the same day.

Originally I was gonna be in Napa the whole week attending "She who must be obeyed" nephews wedding, but the battleship USS Iowa has arrived, so I gotta know what your plans are...if any.

Cost!

What are the prices from Distinctive and SMS for their similar products?

They are not similar, not even close, look at the OP's pics and Boss9F100's pics.

SMS will not be cheap, but they have the correct material.

You get what you pay for, buy the best and cry only once.

Well smack me up side the head! I did not pick that up thought by the pattern he had the early type.

The website clearly shows that 65 66 are the woven pattern.

By "similar" I mean seat covers for a '66. I don't suggest same. Mine "should" have the deluxe woven plastic in red but I might be happy with plain vinyl because of the difference in cost.
