CB Wire Routing

CB Wire Routing
Does anyone have input on where to run the cb antenna wire if mounting antenna to the front on the side of the hood. I was thinking of finding a place on the firewall to run it but I think it will get too hot. Is there another place or hidden plugs on the body that could be used instead. Thanks...any help is greatly appreciated. I have a 2002 XLT 4dr 4x4

Have you crawled underneath and looked? On my former 2000 Mountaineer there was a grommet/drain plug underneath the driver's seat area that worked well for me. I haven't checked my 2004 to see if there's a similar plug. I was running a large power wire from the battery to the cargo area and it was pretty easy to get from the battery to the grommet, so the reverse should work as well. You'll want to make sure you pick a plug/grommet that's big enough to fit the antenna cable connector through though.

Amazon.com: Midland 18-258 40-Channel Glass-Mount CB Antenna: Car Electronics
I used one with excellent results. No need to run any wires from outside of the truck. Perfect unless you are a super high power cb enthusiast.
