Rough Idle, Loss of Power, and Smoke

I got home from a 2000 mile trip 2 months ago and the next morning I noticed a small puddle of oil/fuel under the truck at the back of the engine. I figured I had another fuel line leak in the valley (I had just fixed one a month earlier). Shortly after when I would try to start my truck and drive it the RPMs would fall and it would start to run rough and produce grey smoke, then it would recover. I figured out if I let it idle for a while then I could drive it just fine. I rarely drive my truck as I have a company truck to drive and most days if I did want to drive my truck I would just take the company truck because I didn't want to let it sit and idle for 10 minutes before I could go anywhere with it.

Finally last week I decided to take it to my buddys shop to work on it (3 miles down the road). I thought I was going to have to tow it there. It died 4 times on me, I could not go past 1/4 throttle without it bogging down and blowing smoke. When I got to his shop it was running just fine and I couldn't get it to act up again so we let it sit for the night. The next day it started up just fine and I had him hold the RPMs at around 2000, after about 60 seconds it started to smoke and bog down, I was looking at the smoke coming from the tail pipe, it had the smell and eye burning sensation of raw fuel.

We washed the engine and the only leak we can find is a small oil leak from the HPOP.

We did a buzz test on the injectors and they all passed. Our best guess is an injector dumping fuel. We pulled the injectors and I called Full Force Diesel and let him know they were on their way to him and we decided I might as well go to stage 1 so my next call was to DP-Tuner to get a chip for the new injectors.

I have been loosing sleep all weekend worrying that I just spent $2000 on injectors and a chip and haven't fixed the problem. It ought to be a hell of a ride though if that does the trick. Any thoughts?

Almost forgot, 2002 F250 7.3 bone stock (at least for a few more days)

What kind of oil is in it, how many miles since the last change, and is it full?

Let us know if the new injectors don't solve the problem. Make sure the oil is good though.

Shell Rotella 15W-40, around 2100-2200 miles on oil, it is still in the lower end of the full range.
