One thing I didn't see mentioned anywhere - is the transfer case the same, bolt pattern and everything, will it bolt straight up to the ZF6?

I know in the 80-96 model ford was gracious enough to make any t case from a 1/2 ton bolt to another half ton, other than that idk

I don't know what a "purge" so to speak is.

Here's how I change all the fluid: Changing ATF Fluid in a E4OD and 4R100 transmission .: Articles. Many shops have a flush machine that connects into the cooler lines. As the trans pumps old fluid into the machine the fluid pressure pushes a piston that forces new fluid into the trans. The new fluid follows the same path at the same or slightly reduced pressure. It does NOT harm the transmission. Using flush chemicals MIGHT harm the transmission.

I consider that a purge, mark. I guess that is just a difference in terms lol. The flush machines I was talking about. I do NOT trust them!

I trust them. I don't see a difference between what you call a purge and using a flush machine, except the flush machine is easier.

I've seen test done, and seen that in some cases on used vehicles that the dirt and contamination just gets pushed into places it shouldn't be with the machines, now if I bought a brand new vehicle and kept up on routine transmission maintenance i probably wouldn't be as scares

Then you've seen different machines than I have. The ones I've seen remove the old fluid from the cooler line and replace it with new fluid. The new fluid follows the exact path that the fluid always follows, and at the same, or slightly reduced pressure. It can't push dirt and contamination anywhere that it isn't already stuck.

It's been three years since this thread was active. He's either finished with it or decided not to do it. I doubt he waited three years for an offer to drive one.

Agreed.

I'll link my build thread from Oilburners or theExpedition forum here, just for future reference.

Currently on here trying tore search PCM and their wiring.

Want to see in black and white why I can't run a SuperDuty 5 4 manual PCM.

Need help

so wat would I need to convert my 2002 4x4 excursion that currently has a 4r100. The transmission I’m looking at is the zf 6. I also heard that the 4x4 won’t work due to the transmission case being an electric one?...
