Buying a Transmission from Craigslist, what to look for?

I found a C6 4x4 trans with T-case to replace my 2wd AOD, the guy says its been rebuilt by a master tech but has no papers. Seen pictures, it looks clean like it was rebuilt, no stupid paint job to the parts or nothing. I'm looking at buying for $150. I really can't loose just with the fact it has a T-case. But is there a way to checkout the trans without blowing it all apart before I buy it?

It came from a 1983 Ford F250 with a 351 Cleaveland. It would fit a 302 correct?

Thanks

No, it will not. The Cleveland had the big block bolt pattern, the Windsor had the small block pattern like the 302.

351C, which was never installed in trucks other than the Ranchero, has the SBF pattern.

351M was all done by '82 so it's a real question as to where the OPs motor came from.

351M/400 use the 385 BBF 429/460 pattern.

OP needs to count valve cover bolts, he might even have a 351W.
